David Batten
David has worked in nine international schools in four continents over the past 35 years. His guiding inspiration remains true to a singular philosophy presented in the very early years of the IB – to help create a better and more peaceful world by promoting education as a force for good. David is head of CAS activities at Sotogrande International School and is responsible for all Global Challenges.
Matt Butler
Canadian born Matt Butler, is the founder of Adventurebug Worldwide, a life enhancing travel and training company. He is a trustee of the Kindred Project and a co-founder of Rifcom, a charity that focuses on community enhancement in rural Morocco. Having travelled extensively worldwide and worked in Africa, China, Australia, India, North America and Europe he considers Andalucía to be home base. Matt attributes his passion for working with developing communities and education to his years of growing up amongst the Swampy Cree Indians of Northern Canada. Living in Canada´s remote northern climate -learning hunting, fishing, storytelling of elders and above all, developing a universal respect for nature has been of highest value to Matt. When not participating in numerous ecotherapeutic activities, Matt focuses his time on gifting his own children with the lessons he has learned from others.
Chris Charleson
Chris has worked in IB schools and organisations for over 25 years, involving a variety of roles in a wide diversity of locations. He continues to be passionate about helping young people find their unique talent through authentic learning and global citizenship experiences. He is currently chair of the IB Heads Council and Head of Sotogrande International School, Spain and trustee of the Kindred Project.
Judy Harris
Originally from a scientific background, Judy moved into International Education twenty years ago; focussing on Special Needs Education and integration in an international school environment. Judy was motivated to act after her initial visit to India and dedicated a sabbatical year to work side by side with the Seva Trust orphanage in Goa. Judy has an MA is social welfare and is the coordinator of the Kindred Project.
Tim Lewis
Tim Lewis of Solar Salvations Limited and Solar Solutions Limited is a business entrepreneur working in the field of sustainable energy solutions.
Emanating from a background of large yacht build and management programs in the last ten years, attentions have now been turned to energy solutions that are affordable and applicable.
Based in Southern Spain but with a network of business's in America, the UK, Spain, Portugal and Africa.
The ethos of the company is to make a difference to energy consumption and carbon foot print by targeting the individual or small group users and then to turn solutions into viable options for the undeveloped countries in the world.
Paul Templeton
Over the last 10 years, I have been working with an incredible team of people to make SIS one of the top International schools in Europe.
Through a combination of innovation, creativity and persistence, I think we have found ways to make learning, fun, engaging and relevant.With our links to communities in India, Africa and South America, I think we are also helping nurture a future generation of global citizens, who will be a force for good in the world.
As a trustee of The Kindred Project I am looking for like minded social entrepreneurs to help build a global learning community which brings together children, irrespective of their background in ways we never dreamed possible in our lifetime using the power of technology, collaboration and the new global economy
Javier Triay
Presently, Javier heads up the legal team at Triay &Triay which advises the Government of Gibraltar on the Eastside Project - Gibraltar's largest property development transaction.
He is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, the Bar Council of Gibraltar, and is a previous Chairman and current Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the International School, Sotogrande as well as a trustee of The Kindred Project.
Student Representatives
Flora Strauli and Chris Vent (both M5 students at Sotogrande International School) have been elected to join the board of trustees. Both students will serve on the board for the next two years, taking on many challenges and liaising with other students at the school.
