In 2000, 189 UN member states and international institutions agreed on eight Millennium Development Goals.
The goals were devised to help the billion of people living on less than a dollar a day, and to provide them with education and adequate healthcare (combating diseases, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health.)
The Kindred Project, through its outreach work, is striving to ensure children worldwide are given the opportunity to complete, in the very least, primary education. We believe that through education young people will be able to get out of the poverty trap and move towards an independent lifestyle.
Since its conception the Kindred Project has helped to educate over five hundred children on three different continents. Thanks to the generosity of our donors their future looks brighter today. Help change a childs life today, your donation will make a difference.
A Case Study
Sheela Singh was just eleven years of age when she gave birth to a child, conceived through rape. She sat her vital school examinations when she was eight months pregnant and then was placed in the custody of the state and a local orphanage for abandoned children.
Sheela was determined to complete her education and secure herself a future.
Both her parents have since died from AIDS, and distant relatives are determined that she should terminate her education and have found her a suitable husband of 55 years.
Sheela has resisted all family presure and has just completed her Year 10 examinations, finishing 9th in her year band.
Sheela now has her heart set on becoming a nurse and helping others. She lives in a small home for destitute women homeless women. You can help her fulfil her dream today by making a small donation to her education fund.
