The Kindred Project believes that a hands-on approach to education and service – learning should be taking place in a variety of settings, not just in a classroom but in community based organisations throughout the world.
Our fundamental belief is that by combining service and learning the result is transforming the way young people learn and grow.
Our hands on approach has been recognised with a variety of awards. In 2009 The Kindred Project received a The European Council of International Schools Award. This has enabled us to run e-learning platforms and to build a play area for a slum community. In 2010 a grant from Sir Peter Ustinov provided funding for a community playground at an Urdu school based in Chimbel slum, just outside the state capital of Panjim.
All our volunteers are encouraged to understand and help manage the diverse aspects of project developement from planning, fund-raising and implementation to assessement and extension. Importantly the NGO´s work requires practical hands on experience participating in and leading meaningful projects in a variety of demanding roles in safe but challenging environments both locally and overseas. These initiatives have transformed how you can learn about other cultures and really make a difference.
